Feb 11 2008 : For Immediate ReleaseAMERICAN GREEN HOLDINGS’ ETHANOL REFORMER MAKES FUEL CONSUMPTION BREAKTHROUGH
![]() CRANE, MO - American Green Holdings CEO Dale Wiley announced today that Crane, Missouri-based American Green Holdings has brought to market the Ethanol Reformertm. The Ethanol Reformer is a patent-pending technology that processes ethanol in stationary engines in a much more efficient way. It reduces hourly ethanol use in irrigation systems by more than fifty percent, while improving emissions as well. "We are very happy with this version of the Reformer," said Wiley, noting that the company made changes to the original model which was tested with great success in Nebraska on irrigation systems. "We have used an oil heating mechanism instead of using water heat, thereby protecting the fuel system." Russel J. Gehrke, the inventor of the Reformer, uses ethanol’s flame speed to match the engine’s work load in a different and more efficient process than car makers have achieved using fuel injection and carburetion alone. "People for too long have believed that they would achieve their best results with ethanol by having the fuel match the air," said Gehrke. "Instead, we use the waste heat energy to increase the engine’s volumetric efficiency. Ethanol’s higher octane number allows us to do the same amount of work with a great reduction in fuel." The company has used the same technology in their EcoOutlaw motorcycles, and plans for motor vehicles will be unveiled soon. The Ethanol Reformer is now commercially available for agricultural use. May 4 2007 : For Immediate ReleaseNEW AREA COMPANY PROVIDING TECHNOLOGY AROUND THE HEMISPHERE, JOBS LOCALLYCRANE, MO - A new Ozarks company is making headlines on a national stage with its combination of environmentally-friendly products and down-home ingenuity."This week, we are proud to announce that American Green Holdings has signed
agreements with two biodiesel facilities to provide technology and oversight to their
projects," said Chairman and CEO Dale Wiley.Wiley and AGH’s Innovations Director Russel Gehrke flew to Waterbury, Connecticut on May 2 to ink a deal with F&S Oil Company, a third-generation home heating company now poised to enter the biodiesel market. They will provide a biodiesel transesterification processing to the plant F&S has green-lighted in near-by Cheshire, CT. "F&S is a major player in the northeastern scene, and they have been
very instrumental in creating a positive legislative environment for alternative
fuels," Wiley said. "This is an exciting opportunity, and hopefully just the beginning
of more endeavors." The project will commence June 15, and will require full-time
supervision by two company employees. The company also announced that it was chosen by David Lee, President of Bahamas Biofuels Limited, to create a pilot plant on the island of Nassau. "Mr. Lee
was the first person in the country to receive a biodiesel production license," said
Wiley. "We are looking forward to helping him create a small-scale plant that will
test the viability of a system in a country which is new to biofuels." Wiley met with
Lee in Nassau in February, and was notified last week that his company had been
chosen as technology partner. "The Carribbean market is extremely promising, in
that much of the power on the islands is diesel," Wiley said. "This drives the cost of
the fuel to levels much higher than here in America, so biodiesel is a natural fit."
Biodiesel is a process by which animal and plant oils are converted into fuel and glycerol by a chemical reaction. It is a less harmful alternative environmentally, and provides jobs and industry in this hemisphere instead of relying on foreign oil. Crane-based American Green Holdings, Inc., is a nine-month-old company formed by Wiley, and Gehrke, a well-known engineer in alternative fuel circles. The company acquired a 51 percent interest in Ecosense Solutions, LLC, a manufacturer of green products, and the company has also started other ventures in biodiesel production, alternative fuel brokering and bio-consulting.
Ecosense, founded by Peter LaVaute and actor Dennis Weaver, owns several
patents, including environmentally-friendly grilling chips and a promising ethanol
valve that has been highly touted by farm press. Weaver long touted the concept of
"ecolonomics," the nexus between ecology and economics. Weaver stumped in
Washington on the concept, wrote books detailing his philosophy, and even started
and funded Institute of Ecolonomics at Missouri Southern State University. The
Institute’s director, Robert Wood, was hired in January as Chief Operating Officer of
AGH. Sadly, Weaver passed away in 2006, although his presence is still felt at AGH.
Gehrke in the past has been featured on the Discovery Channel and other media
outlets for his interesting brand of engineering. He was a frequent guest on the
syndicated television show Cool Fuel Roadtrips, where host Shaun Murphy traveled
16,000 miles around the United States without using a drop of gasoline. Gehrke
designed a Hummer that would run on Cajun food, an ethanol- and water-powered
BMW, and a mammoth Hummer limousine which drew power from five alternative
sources. From this exposure, Gehrke has become well-known in alternative energy
sources, and has worked with Willie Nelson, Tom Osborne, Darryl Hannah and
Chicken Soup For The Soul creator Mark Victor Hansen, among others.
Gehrke, while working for Ecosense, traveled to Nebraska in early 2006 to tackle
farmers’ concerns. They wanted to run ethanol in their irrigation systems and were
doing so, but were using over 11 gallons per hour of fuel. Gehrke made some
changes to the way the fuel was heated, and, by the time the project was
completed, had reduced the hourly usage to less than four gallons. The invention,
called the Ethanol Reformer tm, also reduced emissions to the range of natural gas. invited Gehrke and Wiley to his Austin, Texas home, and ordered a motorcycle based on the prototype Gehrke had designed for Willie Nelson. In addition to his role as owner and CEO of Paul Mitchell, DeJoria also owns the Patron tequila company, and the new motorcycle will run on gasoline, E-85, or even a blend of gasoline and tequila. "The tequila reduces emissions," said Wiley, "and it’s fun for
the owner of the company. We believe that more people will see the advantages of
running ethanol in the vehicle instead of premium tequila, however."
Wiley and Gehrke recently attended a charity motorcycle ride in Austin, called the
Peace Love and Happiness ride, and DeJoria got to ride his new machine. The
company also received pre-orders for ten additional motorcycles. The motorcycles
retail for between $30,000 and $40,000, depending on the level of customization.
The company has also caught the eye of former Dallas star Larry Hagman, who now sits as a Director on American Green Holdings’ Board. Hagman became an advocate for solar power when he was able to cut his own energy bill from $2800 in February, 2005 to $13 in February, 2006 after installing large solar panels on his 40-acre property south of Los Angeles Hagman discovered AGH through one of its principals, Austin-based publicist Jason Hardison. Hagman, who has recently served as keynote speaker for renewable energy conventions, is especially fond of AGH’s burgeoning biodiesel offering, Liquid Sunshine. Hagman carries a sample of B-100 (100 percent biodiesel) with him, and preaches the gospel of the new company. "Larry is a passionate proponent of biodiesel and other renewable fuels," said
Wood, who has formed a fast friendship with Hagman. "I’ve enjoyed our
conversations on many topics, and look forward to his involvement with this
company."
In February, AGH teamed up with another "Hag," legendary country music artist Merle Haggard, to fuel Haggard’s tour buses with their first tanks of biodiesel. "Meeting Merle Haggard was an absolute thrill for me," said Wiley, a long-time
music fan. "I probably pestered Merle and his manager, Fuzzy Owen, about
Bakersfield music too much. But we are pleased to be the first to partner with Merle
in greening up his tours, and have big plans for the future." The "fill-up" was done in
conjunction with Haggard’s performance at the National Biodiesel Convention in
February, and the two crossed paths again in March on the "Last of the Breed" tour,
featuring Haggard, Ray Price and Willie Nelson. "We let Willie and Merle see our
ethanol bikes," said Wiley, "and now I understand they all want one. [Asleep at the
Wheel’s] Ray Benson wants one. We hope to continue to find partnerships with
high-profile people to let people understand that you can be environmentally
friendly and fun at the same time."
The company is also involved with several other endeavors, most notably Bid For Green, an on-line alternative fuel trading website. For more information, contact Dale Wiley or Robert Wood at (417) 723-0301. | |||||||||
